According to Variety, the Motion Picture Association of America has decided to tweak the film rating system, with an initiative called “Check The Box” intended to explain the reasoning behind the ratings.
“The campaign we are announcing today focuses on these descriptors, giving parents the information they need to navigate the rating system and movies coming to their theaters,” MPAA Chairman Chris Dodd said. “We’ve produced something we believe you will be proud to showcase at your theaters.”
With this in mind, VF.com has decided to offer up our own new “truthful” rating box, just in time for summer. —Bruce Feirstein
