What is your most treasured possession? It is my “monkey” made of felt. Had him for all my life since I was six. Made him clothes and schoolbooks; made my sister think he was alive. I slept with him, never traveled without him, or his “magic” clothes, only valid if they were made before I was 14—pajamas, jeans, capes, satchel. I put him into Serge [Gainsbourg]’s coffin so the children would be less afraid. He’s with him now, in Montparnasse cemetery.
